It is wonderful when you can go in the store and buy clothes that fit right off the rack. So many of us do not fall into that category. Most of us are quite unique when it comes to what the fashion industry considers “standard sizes”. Most of us are multiple sizes within just one body making us uniquely different from the next person. Even if you wear the same size as someone else, more than likely, it fits you differently than it fits them. Many of us are a different size on the top portion of our body than the bottom portion.
For example: a woman with a small frame with a full bust may be a size 6 on top and only a size 2 on the bottom. In such a case, you would have buy garments to fit the largest portion of the body and have everything else taken in or altered.
This is how you can have store bought clothes with a custom look. Most of the time, as long as the largest part of your body is accommodated, the rest of the garment can be taken in to fit you making it look like a custom made outfit. It is not a good idea to purchase clothes that are tight or too small with the hopes of having them let out. With the exception of men’s dress pants or suit pants, most clothes were not made with extra fabric to be let out.
